The Cheer-less Team

I am beginning to think that you all are not as superstitious as you are just-plain-old-EMBARRASSED of our team name (let alone cheering it out LOUD!)

That's okay, hey, we played GREAT tonight, didn't we?  I think that is the best we've played together as a team.  It's coming together and I think we're starting to get used to one another....now if only I could stop colliding with Jeff B!

That was fun, we worked hard and I think I appreciate the win we had all the more because it was our first!  Hey, we're the newbies to the COMPETITIVE league.  We're going to rock the tournament because now we are the most underestimated team, but also probably the most improved.

Hello folks!
Yay we have a game tomorrow!  First we ref at 6:30, I will be there and
maybe Katie so we will need at least one more victim, I mean, volunteer to
help us ref, lemme know if that's you! ;)

Also, I know for sure that the McGee's (aka "windmill hitter" and "jump
serve babe") will not be there tomorrow and neither will our Pam-fabulous
setter.  If you know, as well, that you can't make it let me know,
especially if you are Becky B. cuz I'm gonna get Brandi to come play with us
if we are short a gal!

Also, I am bringing my kids so if you have kids to bring, they will have
kids to play with!

Laugh Much

For those of you who missed last Thursday's game (or the hilarious "after game"), I thought I'd post a few notes.
First of all, we did lose, but we also played short because we only had two women (one of whom CANNOT set to save her life, and I'm not talking about Britt) so we could only play with three men.  There was much talk of sending Mark home to relieve our stellar volleyball player babysitter and have her join us instead.
So, after getting sort of clobbered two games in a row we BEGGED for more, and six of us stayed for a third "just for fun" game.
We actually played pretty well, probably because the other team was doubled over with laughter at our antics, which included new cutting edge, kick-a$$ moves such as:

• Jeff M.'s windmill hit (fairly self-explanatory)

• the torch (Jenn's very awkward and lame attempt to push it good)

• the Rathjen moonwalk (I think it covered about 5 feet of dance-like footwork across the front of the net)

• Mark's ceiling serve (he says he was checking the vent and that in sand volleyball, "there is no ceiling")

• Brittany's beautiful jump serve(s) (and almost everyone else on both teams followed suit, even if just included a little hop here or there.)

• Shad-rocks 4 ace serves, when he says he's "working out of town" the dude goes to volleyball camp, we think!

Please comment if you have additions or corrections to my recall of the game!

Unfortunately there isn't a game this Thursday  So, back to reality for us just for a while anyway, get caught up on life and laundry, let those injuries heal....but if you just can't stand it and want to play some volleyball, I believe you/we can join Brendon at the high school Wednesday evening. 

Just remember there's ANOTHER gym to the left and around the corner where you will find them! Yeah, I sort of went last week and left in a hurry when I didn't find anyone and the empty high school large gym resembled Twilight Zone and creeped me out.

Our next competitive Rec game is April 14 at 7:30, WE REF AT 6:30, we need three, anyone interested?

Hey team!
Just wanted to remind you all that Brendon invited us to play volleyball tonight (Wednesday) at NPHS gym from 7:30-9:30 for anyone who can make it. He mentioned that there will be others there and we can play against them as a team.

Pretty sure I won't be there tonight, Mark's on call and we've got kids with soccer practice since we've finally got some nice weather!  Wow, snowstorm and sunshine all in one day!

Also, our game this Thursday, tomorrow, is at 8:30pm and we don't ref.  I know Pam won't be there this week.  If anyone else isn't coming, let me know.  Looking forward to playing with you all again!

Serve-Irons.blogspot was available - Imagine THAT!

Well, I mentioned a blog for our awesome volleyball team, Brendon reiterated it and that was enough for me!  So, being a web designer and a creature of habit, here we are!  AND the Serve-Iron domain name was AVAILABLE, can you BELIEVE IT?  kidding.

So, real quick story behind the name....when we got our sand volleyball team together last summer we agreed to be the Serve-ivors (over such names as the Dirty Beaches or the Blazing Sunburns or Sets On The Beach, anyway, I think you get it).  But when we registered and got our paperwork back, we were the "Serve-Irons" - WHAT?!  Wow, my handwriting is worse than I thought.  Oh well, it stuck and now we think it's funny, however lame it may be.

Good game tonight team!  We'll get it together soon but in the meantime, I hope you're having as much fun as I am!
